BritMums Live 2016…I’m Going!

Starting my blog is one of the best things I have done and I really want to throw myself into every part of it that I can.

In June one of the biggest blog conferences is taking place, BritMums Live 2016. When I first heard about it, I instantly thought no way am I going. Then as time went on I thought what a great opportunity for me to learn new ‘blogging stuff’ from the sessions they will be running, plus I may get to meet some lovely bloggers too if I pluck up courage to say hello.

I mean if this was my job I would have to go and I have been to so many conferences, but for some reason this feels different. I don’t have my work colleagues to go with, to chat too and to not feel out of place. This time I would be arriving on my own and that is a little scary.

With a bit of encouragement from Alex over at Bump to Baby, I put all that aside and decided to put my big girl knickers on and buy a ticket…

Then Donna at What the Redhead said that she would meet me in London, which was really kind of her. Since then I have relaxed a bit more about going and started to look forward to it more. I told her she could ditch me when we arrive 🙂

As a bit of an ice breaker everyone that is going is taking part in a linky (a blogging term), to introduce ourselves.

So, this is me…

My name: Laura

My blog: dear bear and beany

Find me on social media at:

How I look:

I look like this…

Is this my first blogging event? Yes, this will be my first ever blogging conference…eek!

I will be wearing…Well, this is a question that has been on my mind since I brought the ticket. It goes back to the whole not having colleagues, where I would be discussing this all day long. It’s my birthday the week before, so maybe I will get something new to wear.

What I hope to gain from #BML16: To meet some lovely bloggers and start to feel part of the wonderful blogging community. Oh yes and of course to learn the blogging stuff!!

My tips for a great conference: You have asked the wrong person, I have no clue! I will be telling myself to relax and try to enjoy it.

So, that is me! If you see someone that looks like the above, but probably looking a bit more nervous, please say hello…

Oh fabulous, I’m sure you’re going to have an amazing time. I would like to go one day but can’t really justify it yet, hopefully I’ll eventually be able to put a bit more time into it and blog properly.

I went for the first time last year and it was fantastic – a bit overwhelming to walk into so I did meet another blogger before, but everyone is very friendly. Have a great time and I’ll try to look out for you too.

Well done for deciding to go for it! I’m sure it’s an amazing experience! I’m not brave enough to go for it – I’m not good with large numbers of people and big events anyway.

My wife and I are going so we may see you there. My wife has been shortlisted for one of the BIB Awards. Fingers crossed she makes it to the 2nd shortlist of 5.

I’m going too and will be lovely to meet you there! It sounds like quite a few of us are feeling nervous about it so great to know I’m not alone there 😉 and everyone seems so friendly so I’m sure we’ll have a blast! xx

Hey Laura, I’m a newbie to Brit Mums Live, so hope to meet you at some point during the day. I’m also goign to the Friday night drinks in Camden. So let me know if you feel like saying hello so we don’t have to walk around our own. Although everyone sounds really nice and I don’t think you can really feel you’re on your own amongst 500 other bloggers. Enjoy lots of lucky things x

This will be my 4th time and I am really looking forward to it. I hope you do too – and I hope to bump into you there 🙂
