We are currently on Easter Holidays and it has been lovely to have my girls home with me. A chance for them to be together for longer than a few hours at the end of each day and weekends, that are filled with errands, swimming lessons and birthday parties.
It has been a chance for me to really soak them up and to watch them together. There is no doubt that they love each other, Alice is the perfect big sister, always there for Holly. Helping her, comforting her and letting her join in with her games. And Holly well Alice can do no wrong in her eyes, she idolises Alice. There is never a time that she isn’t pleased to see her and she is definitely loving having her big sister at home.
Don’t get me wrong they do squabble and have their moments too…it’s certainly not all roses.
But, what I have noticed over the last month is them playing together. They have always done so, but it’s different now. Holly actually understands the role playing game they are playing. She is no longer just following or copying Alice and Alice is no longer just pretending that Holly is actually doing what she is meant to be doing. They are now properly playing together, they love to play mummies and babies, taking it in turn to be the mummy. Or they set up the shop and actually play shops!
It’s wonderful to watch and I love listening into their little chat.
I’m not going to lie its also made my life a bit easier, as they are happily entertained with each other I can get on with the housework, cook the dinner and actually just occasionally drink a hot cup of coffee. We’ve definitely turned a corner and I quite like it.
With it being Easter holidays, we headed to one of our favourite places, Millets Farm with my parents and niece. It was a beautiful sunny day and we did some Easter activities. The girls decorated a chocolate egg with sweets, because obviously the chocolate isn’t enough!!! They also made some bunny glasses, which Holly has not stopped wearing all week.
We looked at the animals, played in the park and had a lovely lunch in the cafe. It was a brilliant day and I managed to capture my girls throughout the day and also at the end when we sat down amongst the daffodils for a rest. These are definitely my favourites from this year so far…
