On Sunday Andy and I celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary and I said that I would share with you all the story of how we met. Strap yourself in, it’s a bit of a rollercoaster!
Andy and I first met when we worked together fourteen years ago, I was Andy’s boss and he sat next to me. Back then to me he was the person in my team who I could rely on, he was good at this job and he never caused me any problems. Andy tells me that he fancied me from the moment he met me and he can remember what I used to eat for my lunch and some of the outfits I would wear. I know…stalker!!
For me as his boss I would never even think about dating someone that worked for me, so he was just not on my radar in that sense. It makes me smile when I think back to that time in my life and if someone had said to me that you are going to marry him one day, I would have laughed in their face.
Over time we both got different jobs within the company and moved on. We would occasionally bump into each other on the campus or on a night out and we would say hello and maybe have a chat. But, that was it for a number of years.
Then one day in November I was planning on going round my friends house for a quiet Saturday night in. This was out of character for us, we would normally be heading into town for a few drinks and a dance. But, we were trying to be good and save some money ready for a busy December. Then I got a call from her saying lets go out, we can drink at mine and then head into town later and it will be a cheaper night out. I was sold!
At this point in my life I was bit fed up with men and I was just enjoying spending time with my friends and having fun.
Back to that night in November, I got myself ready and headed over to my friends house. We spent the next couple of hours talking, laughing and moaning, like we always did. Whilst having a few drinks. We then got a taxi into town and headed to our favourite pub where we met up with some friends who were also out.
I hadn’t been there long when I spotted Andy, he was sat in a corner surrounded by lots of people and looked like he had been to the races. He was all dressed up in a suit and a tie and I thought to myself ‘I don’t remember him being that good looking’!
He caught my eye and we smiled at each other…
