The Coronavirus Diary…#22

Monday 15th February 2021

We made it to half term and we definitely needed a break from the routine of homeschooling. However, I have no idea how I am going to entertain the girls all week. I always find February half term the hardest, before covid. Its always wet and cold and we have to do indoor things mainly. This year is even harder, there is no meeting up with friends, no trips to see my parents and we can only go outside once a day for exercise.

Luckily today it didn’t rain and it was a lot warmer than it has been recently. The girls and I enjoyed a nice walk in the woods and there was no moaning that they were cold. We stayed out most of the morning and it was lovely. This afternoon we did some crafting, the girls made a den and then they had a late afternoon bath. I then sat and plaited their hair, for them to wear to bed.

The rest of the week, will be very similar and it looks like we will have a few rainy days too, just to make it even harder!

Next Monday, we will find out if the schools are going to re-open on the 8th March. I have my fingers crossed that they do, the girls are desperate to go back and see their friends. To have some normality for them, is exactly what they need. I also worry all the time about their education, and what effects this last year has had on them.

It seems that all the other restrictions will stay in place for a while longer. It’s hard to hear, but with the numbers still really high its not surprising. I would rather, we took our time coming out of this lockdown, if it meant this was the last lockdown. We will hopefully know more next week, as the government are going to share a roadmap of us leaving lockdown.

Fingers crossed there is light at the end of what is currently a very long tunnel.
