The Coronavirus Diary…#26

Wednesday 31st March 2021

On Monday we came out of lockdown and took the next step into hopefully getting back to normality. We are now allowed to meet up to 6 people from different households or 1 other household outdoors. Which is brilliant, especially because this time they’ve included the two household rule, as it means that we can meet up with friends as a family.

The girls are still at school this week and we’ve not been able to start seeing people yet. My parents popped over briefly on Monday after school to see the girls and that was lovely. Alice had brownies, and she was really excited because they are now allowed to meet outside in the field. It was really lovely to see her excited about going and she came back full of bounce telling me all about it. I’ve found the hardest part of lockdown is that children haven’t been able to do all the things that children love and need in their life.

The girls break up from school tomorrow and have two weeks off for Easter. We have planned days to meet up with friends, who they are desperate to spend time with. I can’t wait to hear the sound of children playing and laughter. They have missed having fun with their friends a lot. Andy has a couple of days off too and we’re hoping to have some nice weather to get out and about.

During the second week of the holidays, we hopefully move to step two on the roadmap and that means that non-essential shops can re-open, cafes and restaurants can serve food outside, hairdressers can re-open too and lots more. Whilst I won’t be rushing to a restaurant, it will be nice to get a coffee and a cake with the girls at our local cafe.

It’s a strange time as we tentatively come out of lockdown, on the one hand I am desperate to do things whilst we can, as you never know when the next lockdown is around the corner. But, on the other hand, I am cautious and nervous that people are going to go wild and that will mean another lockdown. I don’t think I can do homeschooling again!

I’m staying positive and looking forward and hoping that good times are ahead.
