The LaplandUK First Ever Wishing Store At The Lexicon, Bracknell…

At the weekend we headed to The Lexicon at Bracknell for a very exciting experience. LaplandUK have opened their first ever Wishing Store, right in the heart of The Lexicon and the girls were very excited to see what it was going to be like. With LaplandUK just down the road from The Lexicon, its great that they’ve been able to bring a little bit of the LaplandUK magic to The Lexicon.

As soon as you arrive at The Lexicon, you can’t miss it situated right next to Smiggle. With its giant familiar LaplandUK sign out the front.

It wasn’t long before it was time for us to enter the LaplandUK Wishing Store. We’ve been lucky enough to visit LaplandUK twice before, and as we stepped inside, it was like we were right there at LaplandUK. Both Andy and I commented on what a great job they had done. at creating the magic of LaplandUK within the store.

All the children were then greeted by Wish and Scribble. The LaplandUK elves and Alice looked back at me with delight in her eyes, as she remembers meeting Wish before.

The children were taken to a quiet seating area, where there were log stools to sit on and Wish, along with some help from Scribble read them a story. Holly was a little nervous, and Scribble spotted this immediately. She came over asked Holly’s name and led her to sit with Alice. It’s little things like this, that make all the difference as  a parent.

The story that Wish told the children wasn’t just any story, but the story of Lapland and Father Christmas.

Once the story had finished they took the children over to writing desks, where the children could sit and write their wish list to Father Christmas. The desks were old wooden ones, with paper and pencils.

I think Scribble took a shine to Holly, as she went with her to help her write the letter to Father Christmas. It was just the cutest thing to watch, Holly loved it.

Alice has asked Father Christmas for a netball stand and netball and wrote her letter beautifully to Father Christmas.

Holly has asked for a two wheel scooter now that she is a big girl, and wants to be like her sister.

With their letters ready, you carefully fold them and add a Lapland stamp. Then its time to post your letter in the postbox.

Scribble and Wish both took the girls, and in fact every child to post their letter. They had a lovely chat about what their wishes were.

The wishing tree is a big part of the Lapland magic, its where all the children’s wishes are captured and then Wish takes them to Father Christmas for the children. They had some cool glasses, and it made all the ‘wishes’ (i.e the lights) sparkle brighter.

The girls got to sit with Wish and Scribble under the Wishing Tree and I love this photo of them asking the girls where their wishes are on the tree. It really brought the magic to life.

We then had a look around the stalls, the girls quickly spotted the husky dogs, which they received from Father Christmas on their visit to LaplandUK in previous years. They also managed to talk me into buying a dog lead for their dogs!

At the end of the experience the girls were both given a bag with some goodies in and they were very happy!

The LaplandUK Wishing Store is truly magical and I think its a wonderful addition to The Lexicon at this time of year. The experience costs £5 per child, that includes the goody bag. Booking is advised as it is very popular. It is open until 24th December 2019. The store is also open for browsing and you can go in and write a letter to Father Christmas without booking. Full details are here.

The Lexicon has lots happening this Christmas and it looks beautifully decorated with its tree taking pride of place. When we visited, the lights were due to be turned on later that day and they had the stage all set up.

There is the Christmas Market, with some lovely stalls. We brought the most delicious cupcakes from one stall!

There are so many places to choose to have lunch and we visited Nando’s, one of our favourites.

After lunch we did some shopping and Holly had been saving her birthday money. She brought a Frozen 2 handbag and hasn’t put it down since. Andy brought a new shirt for our Christmas night out, and I brought a plant pot stand, which made me very happy!

As we made our way around the shops, we came across a Christmas bauble on skates. Not only was it was fun to see, she was handing out chocolate canes to the children. Which was a lovely surprise.

You can also buy a collectible charity Christmas bauble. They make a different design every year and over 3 years, you will have a set. They cost £2 and are available from the Information hut, with all money going to The Lexicon charity fund.

If you’re looking for a great Christmas Gift, then The Lexicon Gift Card would make a lovely present. Who doesn’t love a shopping trip!

There is lots happening at The Lexicon this Christmas, and lots to do to entertain the children. With The Elven Treasure Hunt starting this week too! You can find details of everything that is taking place at The Lexicon this Christmas here.
