A Dinosaur Day Out At The Lexicon, Bracknell…

I love shopping, actually I used to love shopping! Then the girls arrived and well it just became too much to take them on a shopping trip. Now that they are older, we occasionally try a shopping day, but they usually get bored and we wonder why we came. At the weekend we were invited to The Lexicon, in Bracknell to come and experience the dinosaur activities they’ve got on over the summer. I think we may have solved our shopping days, thanks to The Lexicon!

When we arrived at The Lexicon, we were immediately greeted by a T-Rex, which is the biggest animatronic dinosaur in the UK. Measuring 18 metres long, 8 metres tall, it moves and roars, this is not to be missed. She doesn’t have a name yet, what would you call her?

They also have a dinosaur hunt challenge, and there are explorers to collect your dinosaur hunt sheets from. There are 10 dinosaurs in various shops around The Lexicon, and you have to follow the clues to find them. You could be in with a chance of winning an amazing prize, A family trip to the Natural History Museum’s Dino Snores!

The girls couldn’t wait to get started and we headed off in search of dinosaurs.

It wasn’t long before they excitedly found the first one in the shop window. The dinosaurs are brilliantly made out of cardboard, which Alice noticed straight away.

Doing trails like this is a great way for Holly to practice her letters and writing. Learning and she doesn’t even realise!

Along the way we were able to do our shopping, stopping in the shops we needed to go into, as we did the dinosaur hunt. By mixing up the shopping and the dinosaur spotting, the girls didn’t get bored and actually enjoyed looking around the shops.

The girls brought a new book each, with a book token that Alice was given by her friend for her birthday. She was really sweet and had enough money to buy one for Holly too.

It wasn’t long before they spotted another dinosaur.

The Lexicon has a great range of shops and you don’t have to walk that far either.

We were entertained along the way, by this man and his drums. The girls were dancing around having a great time.

Whilst the dinosaur events are happening, which is until Monday 26th August 2019, on Saturdays there is a face painting stand to get your dinosaur theme face painted. It is a suggested £2 charity donation, with all funds raised going to The Lexicon Charity Fund.

Holly couldn’t wait to get her face painted and the lady was so lovely with her.

We then had hungry tummies and The Lexicon has a great selection of restaurants to choose from. We went to Bills, which is always a favourite of the girls. Especially Alice who loves their sausage, mash and gravy.

I love Bills and the only downside to going is that they don’t have colouring for the girls. Instead we let the girls open their toy and play together while they waited.

Thankfully dinner arrived fairly quickly.

We even fitted in a cheeky dessert too!

With full tummies, it was time to find the last dinosaurs and finish our shopping.

My rucksack broke when I was on Holly’s school trip just before the end of term and last week I really missed having one on days out with the girls. I was really pleased to find just what I was looking for in Accessorize and Alice kindly carried it for me.

There are various dinosaur themed items around the different shops and restaurants and Hotel Chocolat. had a fossil shaped chocolate, that looks yummy!

We had a great day at The Lexicon, the girls loved doing the dinosaur hunt and it definitely made our shopping trip the easiest its ever been. I will definitely be heading back towards the end of August to get new school shoes.
