A few months ago something pretty amazing happened in Bracknell, the new shopping centre opened called The Lexicon. Bracknell isn’t somewhere that we’ve ever been to before for shopping, but it’s only a short drive up the M4 for us and I was excited to go and see what it was like.
I was invited to a blogger event a couple of weeks ago, but sadly couldn’t make it. But they asked me to come along another time to see what The Lexicon has to offer this Christmas.
Once we had dropped Alice at school, Holly and I jumped in the car and headed to Bracknell. Holly is fairly good at shopping and with the promise of a trip to the cafe, she was excited too.
When we arrived I was really pleased to see that the whole shopping area is pedestrianised, this definitely makes shopping easier with children, as I’m not constantly panicking about cars. The beautiful outdoor village is full of lots of brands that we love, like Joules, Cath Kidston, NEXT, FatFace, M&S, Paperchase and Alice’s favourite Smiggle. I was also pleased to see that Jack Wills will be arriving soon, as this is a favourite of Andy’s.
The Lexicon is all set for Christmas with their lights twinkling above our heads and the Christmas tree up. They have lots of lovely festive things going on this December.
I have to start by telling you about the Christmas postbox which is one of the loveliest ideas I’ve seen. If you know someone that deserves a treat you can nominate them by posting a card or letter in the box.
The postbox closes on the 17th December at 5pm and The Lexicon will choose 5 Christmas wishes to make come true. This has all the Christmas feels about it! We found the postbox really easily and it is just by Ernest Jones if you look on the various maps around the village.
Next to the postbox is a seating area and they are in the shape of leafs and have insects on them. Holly was fascinated by them and had to go around saying hello to them all.
As Holly and I made our way to Costa, this girl knows how to shop, we passed an area that is all set for when some favourite characters will be making an appearance. There wasn’t any taking place when we visited, but thankfully Holly was happy enough to just say hello to them.
If you are heading to The Lexicon on the following days, then look out for the characters making an appearance. Bing and Flop are coming on Tuesday 12th December, and Ben and Holly on Tuesday 19th December. Between 2.30pm-7pm on each date you can drop in to visit them and have your photo taken.
This Sunday 10th December there is a Christmas workshop for children to get crafty and create their own wish cards to pop in the postbox. This is running from 11am-4pm and can be found on the High Street by GAME. No need to book, just drop in.
And if you know someone local to The Lexicon and you’re struggling for a gift idea. Then this is for you. The Lexicon has it’s own Gift Card and is accepted by more than 70 shops and restaurants within the Lexion. You can buy a Lexicon gift card online or visit The Lexicon Management Suite.
Holly and I had a lovely time browsing the shops and getting the last of our Christmas shopping done. With so many shops available, I was able to tick off everyone I had left to buy for.
In NEXT they had the most gorgeous sparkly Christmas decorations and I couldn’t resist getting a couple for our tree.
I can’t go shopping without heading into Paperchase, I love stationery and I can’t resist popping in to see what they have.
As we were leaving our last shop, Holly spotted Paddington Bear in the window of M&S and it’s not just any Paddington Bear but a gold one.
As well as lots of brilliant shops, The Lexicon has plenty of places to have something to eat and drink. With Bills, Prezzo, Nando’s, Costa, Fenwick, Pizza Express and lots more.
Holly and I had a lovely few hours at The Lexicon in Bracknell and we will definitely be going back.
