Future Plans For Our Home…

We moved into our home four years ago and we definitely see it as our forever home. Over the last year, probably due to us spending a lot more time at home and also as our children have grown up, our needs from the house have changed.

We would like to create an area where they can go and relax in when they come home from school. Soon we will be allowed to have friends over again and it would be nice for them to have somewhere to hang out in. I want my girls to grow up knowing that they can bring their friends to our house and they won’t have to sit with me all the time.

Our garden is on the side of our house, and we’ve been looking at plans to extend out into the garden to create an extra room. This would give us the additional space that we would like and it would also free up the play area that we currently have. Which might mean that I will finally have my own office.

I’ve been looking at the different options that would be available to us and I think having a more open plan style extension would work the best for us. I would love to have an area that I could sit, that overlooks the garden. My friend has recently had her kitchen extended and has had a framed rooflight put in and I can’t wait to visit and to find out how much natural light fixed rooflights let in.

It won’t be a large space, but it will be big enough for a sofa and a place for us to snuggle up in and watch television. We will also put some storage in there for the girls lego and board games. It will be nice to have a place to tidy it all away at the end of the day.

I have to try not to get too ahead of myself when it comes to the furniture, as its probably a good idea to have the building work started before I start buying.

It does make me excited to see this change in our home. It will completely change how we use the downstairs in our home and it will be something that will change as the girls get older.
