We are currently on half term and so it’s very timely that I’m writing my monthly update about the girls. I love the school holidays and having both my girls home with me. I love the slower starts to the day, no school run and the freedom it gives us.
But what I really love is that it gives the girls time together and not just snatched moments when Alice gets home from school. Yes, we of course have weekends, but they whizz by and there is always a party to go to or something on. Whereas during the school holidays, they are just together 24/7 and they love it, just as much as me.
They are at a really lovely stage of playing well together, wanting the other one to play with them and coming up with role plays to do together. They both have a real love of babies and they get their dolls and are little mums to them. It’s really cute to watch. Or they will take it in turns to be the mum or the baby. I could watch them all day long and often do, whilst ignoring all the house work I should and could be doing.
Another love that they both share is drawing and colouring. There isn’t a day where they don’t do it, before school, after school, at weekends. They just love it. They will sit together at the table, sometimes in silent and other times asking what the other one is drawing. We get through a lot of paper, thank goodness for Wilkinson pads!
At the start of half term we had a few days away on our first family trip this year and we went glamping for the first time. I’ll be sharing our trip with you soon. While we were there we headed to Shaftsbury to find the famous Gold Hill, where the Hovis advert was filmed.
I love these photos of my girls. They really enjoyed having all this time together, to just be sisters, having fun and making memories.
