My Girls…May 2017

My Girls…May 2017

Wow the weeks are flying by at the moment, when I wrote my April post about my girls we were on Easter holidays and now we only have two weeks until half term. It’s come round so quickly.

My girls at the moment are at a really sweet age. Holly is leaving the toddler days behind her every day and becoming a little girl. She idolises her sister and I constantly hear Alice say ‘why does she want to do what I’m doing’, which I reply ‘get used to it, it will be like this for a long time’. I think she secretly likes it.

But Holly is also a determined little girl and won’t let Alice boss her around. In fact she is probably more of the boss than Alice is. They are constantly doing role play at the moment, and Alice is always desperate to be the mummy. But Holly responds ‘I’m not a baby anymore’. I do try not to laugh.

What I really want is for time to slow down. I’m not ready for Alice’s first year of school to be over, I still haven’t got my head around the fact that she is at school. And I’m definitely not ready for my baby to be 3 years old. I mean how can that be? So, as much as I love the sun and the warmer days, I am not in a hurry for summer to arrive, as it will bring all of these milestones.

To see my girls walk hand in hand, to hear the giggles come from one of their room where they are playing and to see the cuddles they give each constantly. It honestly melts my heart. I am so pleased that I was able to give them each other.

Alice is the perfect big sister, there is nothing she wouldn’t do for Holly and as she gets older this just becomes even more apparent. Yes, they squabble like only siblings can and they drive me insane at times. But it is truly a privilege to have a ring side view and watch them together.

My photos were taken a few weeks ago. We had recently discovered that we had a bluebell woods right on our doorstep, how did I not know this was here before. So we headed there one afternoon. Alice was so excited as she loves bluebells and she was totally in her element leading the way.

The photos of the girls together are not perfect, they wanted to explore and not really stay still for a photo. But I love the memories that this simple afternoon has given me. We were potty training Holly and we took a potty with us. And yes of course she needed a wee, so out came the potty in the bluebell woods (yes I took a photo!). And of course 5 minutes later she then wet herself!

My girls in May in the Bluebell Woods…

This is a typical photo I get now…

Or I get the ‘cheese’ shot…

  1. Gorgeous photos of Alice and Holly having fun in amongst the bluebells. Good luck with the potty training! Sophie also tells Jessica that she’s not a baby – but when it comes to potty training she’s tells me she’s not a big girl and she wants her nappies! We’re trying to introduce it gradually – sometimes she’ll go to the potty by herself now anyway and we’ll have a big push on this front in the summer when it will be easier all round. I can’t quite believe that it is only two weeks until half term – I’m completely with you on not being at all ready for Jessica to finish her first year at school. How has this first year gone by so quickly?! #siblingsproject

You got some beautiful photos! The one of Alice lifting Holly up for a cuddle is so cute. I don’t think Mabel has ever been able to lift Greta up, she’s almost bigger than her haha. Mabel always makes Greta be the Daddy when they play Mummies and Daddies… she doesn’t seem to mind too much! Although the other day they were arguing over who got to be the dog. It’s amazing how the gap closes as they get older isn’t it? Just think what they’ll be like this time next year!! (Or maybe don’t… too scary!) xx

Ah they sound like such lovely sisters bless them and you can tell how close they are from your photos. I haven’t managed to get to any bluebell woods this year, but we did find a little wild flower patch when we were away last weekend. Your photos are gorgeous. x

Such gorgeous photos Laura, bluebells are my favourite. I totally relate to this, Harry is 3 next week and I’m so not ready. Where does the time go? It made me laugh that Alice said why does she want to do what I’m doing. That’s so like mine, Eva gets frustrated with it sometimes! Lovely post, I still need to do one of these!
