It has felt like a long year so far, but we’ve finally made it to Easter. My girls break up for the Easter holidays on Thursday and we will be straight into the Easter fun. Easter will be a bit different this year, but we can still have lots of fun.
Whilst we are now allowed to meet up with people outdoors, there is still going to be a lot of time that I need to entertain the girls and they get very excited about Easter. I like to have ideas ready to go and then hopefully that means that they won’t get bored. I’m hoping that the weather will be kind to us and we can go on lots of lovely walks.
I thought I would share some ideas on what you could do at home.
- Have an Easter Egg hunt in the garden. If the weather is nice you can hide eggs around the garden and they can hunt them out. This reminds me of my own childhood and my girls love it every year. We have some signs to make it fun and I re-use them every year.
- Decorate the house. My girls love an excuse to decorate the house and you can get lots of wonderful decorations for Easter. An Easter Tree is a must, eggs, chicks and of course you need some bunnies. I love these gorgeous Erzgebirge wood craft Easter Bunnies, they are lovingly handcrafted. They are a great collectors item, that I can pass down to my children when they are older. There is a wide selection of Easter Bunnies and one that will be perfect for every family.
- If the weather isn’t nice, or you can both the outside hunt and the inside Easter scavenger hunt. You can write clues and take them on a hunt around the house and at the end there is an egg waiting for them.
- Easter crafts, there are lots of great Easter crafts available. My girls love to paint an Easter egg each every year and then we hang them on our Easter tree. You can buy the eggs cheaply from The Works for £1.
- Easter Baking. My girls love to bake and also love to eat, and this is a win win. Every year we make our Easter chocolate fridge cake. Its really easy to make and tastes amazing. We also make gluten free mini egg cookies and they are a big hit. There are so many great Easter recipes.
- Make Easter bunting. This is always a fun activity that keeps them entertained for a while. Print out some Easter bunting and they can colour it in, already for a little Easter party. Hang it up and you are set to go.
- Have an Easter afternoon tea. This is something that we’re going to do. The girls help me make the scones, cakes and biscuits. They love to bake and it takes us all morning to prepare. Then we have a fun Easter afternoon tea party in the afternoon and its a great excuse to get dressed up.
- Bubbles! All children love bubbles and you can get them outside and chase the bubbles. I got these Easter themed bubbles from The Works and I’m sure you can get them in most supermarkets.
- Film afternoon. There is nothing better than snuggling up and watching a film together. There are lots of great films to watch at this time of year. A favourite of ours is Peter Rabbit and even though we’ve watched it hundreds of times, its the perfect Easter film. Of course you can’t have film afternoon without popcorn, putting on your pyjamas and snuggling under the blanket.
Have you got any plans for Easter, I would love to hear them and I always need new ideas to keep my girls entertained.
