“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”

by Kahlil Gibran

My photos this week are the girls playing with their toys. I often get asked if the photos of the girls when we review things are staged. I normally try and get one photo of them smiling at the camera, which I guess you could say is staged. But genuinely most of the time I just leave them to explore their new toy and snap away.

I love to see what I can capture naturally from them, their reactions to something they’ve discovered about it and they don’t even really notice me snapping away.

When I was looking back at some photos I took of Alice, I just love her smile and reaction in this one. You can’t really see what the actual toy is (so it won’t make my review post), but I adore this photo of Alice and wanted to share it.

Holly’s was taken on Friday when we got back from the shops and she was playing so nicely with her toys. I love her little face!

I often get asked if my photos are stage and aside from standard ‘portrait style’ ones they rarely are. These are lovely pics x #LivingArrows

They’re beautiful photos of them. I do like documentary style – so much easier to get nice photos as well! #livingarrows

The staging comment made me smile – I haven’t got a hope of staging anything with Max, I just have to snap as he does whatever the fancy takes him! These are lovely photos, both so natural and happy.

Lovely photos of the girls, I really struggle not to get photos that aren’t staged as Monkey has hit that I don’t want to be photoed age … raises eyes to roof xx #livingarrows

I love the candid shots you got of them both this week! Sometimes it’s so much easier to get a natural reaction when you secretly snap away x
