We moved into our home just over 4 years ago and during that time our girls have grown up a lot, which means that we’re constantly changing the use of certain rooms in the house.
One room that has changed a lot is the playroom. As the girls have grown up over the last couple of years, the need for a whole room has become less. They have fewer toys and its more board games and lego that are easier to store away. This means in our dining room/playroom area we want to make some changes to how we use the space. The space is really generous and with us not needing a playroom area like we did before, it means we have options on what we can do with it.
Our main plan is that we want to take out the existing french doors and create a wider opening, by taking out some of the wall to the side of it. This means that we would be able to put in bifold doors and it will allow more light to come into this area. I’ve always wanted bifold doors, and its one thing that was missing from my wish list when we came to buy this house. I love the flexibility that they offer and you can really make your garden feel like an extension to the house. I’m really excited to create a seating area, for us to be able to look out our the garden. This will be great in the summer, when the girls are out there playing and I can sit and watch them easily. I would like to have either a sofa or a couple of chairs with a side table. Plus, some nice units to be able to store their board games and lego in.
We also have quite a large dining room, which came with us from our previous house and we don’t really need to have one that sits 6 people all the time. I would like to change it for a table that comfortably seats the 4 of us and then we can extend it, when we have people over for dinner. This will mean that for the majority of the time it will take up less space.
With us spending more time at home over the last year, we’ve changed how we use our home and its great to be able to make some changes that will really benefit us.
