I have never owned a set of scales, not because I am not interested in what I weigh, but back in my twenties I know that I would have been on them every day and I didn’t think that would be healthy. So, I just used to weigh myself when I visited my parents house and then the rest of the time judge my weight on if my clothes fit me or not.
Then after having Holly my weight started to plummeted and whilst you may be reading this and thinking you lucky person and don’t get me wrong to begin with I was pleased that the weight I had put on whilst pregnant was going, it did get to a worrying stage.
Because when I got to my pre-pregnancy weight, I didn’t stop loosing it. I wasn’t exercising and I was still eating cake and lots of it, so why was I loosing weight every week?
I had a few comments from my mum and friends about it and not in a oh you look fab kind of way. But, more a you are looking really thin way. I thought I better start monitoring my weight a bit closer and because I didn’t own any scales this meant remembering to do it when I visited my parents.
I would then keep a record of it on my phone, so I could track how much I was loosing each week. It did the job but I had to work it all out myself.
So, when Beets BLU got in touch and asked if I wanted to review their bluetooth scales, I thought this would be a good time for me to have my own. Plus having looked on their website, it looked like they would record it all for me. Bonus!
For them to work you need to download the app onto your phone, which is free. I have the iPhone 6S and it is compatible on the iPhone 4S and higher and Android-based Smartphones, there is a full list here.
The app was really easy to set up, it asked for my gender, birthday, height and if I wanted to lose/maintain my weight or gain weight. Then all I had to do was make sure the bluetooth was switched on my phone (yes, I forgot this!), place the scales on a hard even floor and step onto them There are metal plates for you to place your feet onto, wait for two beeps and it then sends the record to your phone.
Your phone then speaks to you and tells you your Weight, Fat, Muscles and BMI. You can have your weight in KG or stones. It then keeps the records for you and after seven days it will show you in the bottom left of this photo, whether you have gone up or down on each of the areas.
The only thing missing for me, is that I have no clue if my results are healthy or not and it would have been good to have some guidance on the app to let me know.
Instead I went to the NHS website and used their calculator with the information and I was pleased to see that my BMI was in the middle of the healthy range for my height and weight.
My husband had a go too and he was really impressed, telecommunications is what he knows so anything like this he wants to try. We have been using the scales every day this week for the purpose of this review and whilst I don’t think we should carry on doing it that frequently (its just so we can get the 7 days worth of data quicker). We will definitely be monitoring our weight more carefully.
Overall, we like the bluetooth option that the Beets BLU scales offer, it definitely makes life easier keeping track of your weight for you.
The RRP is £59.99, which is in the high end for scales, but I think for me with all the extras that are included they are worth the money. You can purchase them from Amazon here.
And, for anyone worried about my weight, as you can see from this photos I have been slowly putting the weight back on and I have a healthy weight.
