Uppark House and Gardens, National Trust…

A few weeks ago on our way to spend the weekend in Brighton, we stopped off at Uppark House, which is a National Trust property. As National Trust members, we always look for one that we can stop at on long journeys. Its a great way to stretch our legs, having a coffee and also see another beautiful National Trust property.

Unfortunately the weather wasn’t in our favour. We had planned on doing the autumn trail they had on, but it was a wet and very foggy day. Plus Alice was getting over an illness and we wanted to take it easy. When we arrived, there was plenty of car parking available and we immediately found the visitors reception to go and show our National Trust cards. They also gave us a map.

Behind the visitors reception is a second hand bookshop.

We made our way in search of the house and the cafe. On our way we passed buildings.

And gorgeous flowers. That’s one thing that National Trust properties do well. The grounds are always well loved after.

When we arrived the girls needed the toilet and this took us under the house along a passage. The girls thought it was brilliant!

It was then time to visit the cafe for a much needed coffee for me and the girls had a lovely shortbread, with the National Trust emblem on it.

Next to where we were sat, where the old ovens of the house. We were telling the girls about how they worked in the olden days.

After we finished we went outside. There was a lovely seating area outside the cafe, which would be lovely to sit at on a nice day. I bet the views would be amazing on a clear day.

The house looks beautiful and it would be lovely to have a look inside on our next visit.

Its a shame it was such a foggy day, you’re meant to be able to see for miles on a good day and we would love to come back next year.

There was so much space for the girls to just run and plenty of space for a picnic in the summer.

We had a lovely time at Uppark, and we would love to visit again on a clearer day and with more time.

That’s what I love about being a National Trust member, you don’t have to spend all day somewhere knowing you can come back.
