August is crazy busy birthday month here, with both the girls birthdays and Andy’s birthday all within 10 days. But this year Andy is celebrating a BIG birthday! We’re going to be on holiday for Andy’s birthday and the girls didn’t want to miss out on baking him a cake, something they do every year. So, we did it early and thanks to Swizzels we made his perfect cake, a pick n mix chocolate cake!
The girls decided to make a heart shape chocolate cake which Andy loves. Now the girls are older and very capable at making the cake, we have to share out the jobs. Alice is good at measuring out the ingredients and Holly likes to do the stirring. She has a little stool to stand on, so that she can reach.
With the cake all ready to go in the oven, it was time to get the sweets ready to decorate the cake.
Andy’s favourite sweets are the drumstick lollies and refreshers and we made sure there were plenty of them on it. Along with Love Hearts, which are Alice’s favourites!
While the cake cooled down, we headed to the park and then when we came back it was ready to ice and decorate with the Swizzels sweets. The girls couldn’t wait.
Of course we decorated it with chocolate icing and with the heart cake covered, it was time to add the sweets. The girls decided to put lollies all around the edge.
With the lollies in place, we added Love Hearts, Refreshers and Parma Violets.
With the Swizzels Pick n Mix cake ready, it was time to get Daddy!
The girls were so cute singing Happy Birthday to Daddy and were very proud of their cake.
Andy loved it and declared it the best cake yet! I can confirm it tasted good too and the sweets……well, Andy and I are still making our way through them and love it.
