My Little Snapshots…

It’s been another busy week and I’m sure I am not alone with other parents feeling it too. These last few weeks before the end of the school year there is so much going on. It’s also been a really lovely week, seeing the girls do different things at the school. I can’t believe my little Holly has finished her first year at school, I wrote her a letter yesterday and it made me really emotional.

I’ve always been trying to get as much work done as possible ahead of the girls finishing school. There is only so much preparation I can do, as a lot of my job is reactive and very in the moment. But I will definitely be taking a back seat over the holidays and only working when the girls are asleep.

Here is my little snapshot of this week…

Time With A Friend… Last Friday Andy headed off camping for the weekend with his friends, for an early birthday celebration. On Friday night my friend came over for pizza and prosecco, which is the perfect combination. It was lovely to sit and chat without the kids interrupting us. We talked way longer than planned and it ended up being a later night, but all for the right reasons. I also managed to escape a hangover the next day and felt fine.

A Weekend With My Girls… I can’t remember the last time I had a weekend with just my girls. It gave me a taste of what the summer holidays are going to be like and I can’t wait. We went to Pizza Hut for lunch, as a well done for their brilliant school reports. Then we headed to a park we don’t go to that often, its good to mix it up! The girls played with their football for ages and it was a lovely chilled afternoon. We then came home and snuggled on the sofa and watched a film. They are at such a fun age and were really good all weekend.

School Summer Fayre… On Sunday afternoon the girls and I headed to their school summer fayre. Alice was doing her country dancing again and did another brilliant performance. They got their face painted, had hair feathers put in, got their nails painted, had an ice cream and played a million games. They loved it! The reason I got them to leave, was because Daddy had arrived home.

School Trip… I went on Holly’s school trip this week and it was so cute. I remember going to the same place with Alice and its a great first school trip. The children were all really well behaved and had so much fun. I’ll always be grateful that I can go on their trips.

Leavers Service and Talent Show… Alice is leaving her school next week and there has been lots of leaving events happening. This week we went to her leavers service at the church and I was not prepared for how emotional it was going to be. All the children shared their favourite memory from the school, and they sang this beautiful leaving song that made me cry. It’s a wonderful school and I can’t believe Alice has got to age of leaving. We also had their talent show, where every child gets on stage and either sings, dances, does football skills, tells jokes or whatever their talent is. Alice had written an acrostic poem about the school and read it out. Even though she wrote it at home and has been practising it a lot at home, there is nothing like seeing her on stage, reading it out. The tears flowed again and I’ve never been prouder of her.

This weekend…  It’s a busy weekend for us. We have both the girls parties on Saturday, Holly’s in the morning and Alice’s in the afternoon. I must be mad! The girls are so excited. On Sunday we’re heading to our friends for a bbq, which will be lovely and I can have a much needed glass of wine and a rest.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
