What a week its been. Last weekend the storm hit us and we lost power. It was on and off (mainly off), until Tuesday at 3am. The girls thought it was a fun adventure, but for me the novelty soon wore off on the second night. Holly had a party at our village hall on Sunday afternoon and as we went to leave, we couldn’t get out of our road due to trees blown down both ways. A friend came and rescued us in their car, and even walking the short distance to their car it wasn’t very nice. But we made it and despite no power in the village hall, they all had a brilliant time at the party and I don’t think they even noticed.
I’ve spent most of this week working to get ahead ready for half term next week. I’m very lucky that my job can fit around the girls, but it will mean some late night working next week. I don’t mind though, and a week is a lot easier to juggle than the longer holidays.
Here is my little snapshot of my week…
A New Rug… In our hallway I’ve been looking for the right rug for ages. I’ve tried several different shapes and styles and none of them have worked. Last week I spotted this rug and loved it. It arrived on Saturday and I couldn’t wait to see what it looked like. The colouring was very different to how it looked online, but actually it fitted better. I love it and I’m really pleased to finally have a rug here. Its made such a difference when you walk into the house. I just have a few more bits I want to buy for the hallway and then its finished.
Coffee With Friends… I had a lovely catch up with a couple of friends. They came over for a coffee before school pick up for a chat. Even though we see each other most days at pick up, its just not the same as sitting down and having a good catch up.
Parties and Time With Alice ..Holly had two parties last weekend. One on Saturday and one of Sunday. Andy and I agreed to do one each and he took Holly on Saturday. It meant that I had two hours with Alice, which was lovely. We met my parents at the cafe for a coffee and it was lovely seeing them. Time with just one child for me and my parents, is precious. Now Alice is older, its lovely to just sit and chat with her.
Rainbows… This week was officially enrolled as a Rainbow and I was able to watch her. It was really lovely seeing her and she was really happy to finally get a badge. She has been desperate to do rainbows and its lovely to see her doing it and enjoying it.
This weekend… Storm Dennis is on its way and the forecast is showing heavy rain and winds. I’m really hoping we don’t loose power again. We are meeting up with friends on Saturday and Sunday will be a quiet day at home.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
